Board of Selectmen
To Local Businesses
It was brought to the Board of Selectmen's attention that many Church Street businesses and their patrons were upset, citing lack of notification from the Town regarding road work. The Board of Selectmen and Highway Department would like to state that paving companies are unable to specify exact dates and times when road work is to be performed on any given street.
At times, as with Church Street, road work falls through in another community and the paving company seeks alternate paving projects in order to keep productivity going. Moreover, the Town had to act swiftly in order to take advantage of the current prices for hot top, which is expected to increase significantly later this month.
The selectmen thank you for your patience and understanding as the Highway Department continues to improve the following roads: Skunk Road, Church Street, and Nichols Street. Should you have any further questions and or concerns about the road projects, please do not hesitate to contact the Board of Selectmen's Office at 978-346-8862.
Sincerely, Merrimac Board Of Selectmen
