Municipal Trash Collection Program
For residents eligible for municipal trash collection. Multi-unit apartment dwellings over six units and trailer park units are not eligible for trash pickup.
Use $1.50 sticker for each 30-35 gallon bag or barrel of trash, weighing up to 40 lbs. Recycling collection does not require a sticker. The more you recycle, the more you save! Place one sticker around neck of each bag, or if using barrel, on the top item in the barrel. Do not place the sticker on the barrel itself or lid.
All trash bags must be tied and containers covered to prevent litter. Non-conforming trash bags or barrels (e.g., no sticker, over weight limits) will be left at curbside and will be the responsibility of residents. Illegal disposal or burning of trash will result in a fine as per Merrimac's bylaw.
Trash should be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on the morning of collection, and not before 6:00 PM on the evening prior to collection. In the event of a holiday or bad weather, collection may be delayed a day.
