Locations of 5 DRCs for Recent Flood Victims
Framingham, MA – In response to the devastating flooding in the Commonwealth, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), in coordination with a variety of State agencies, will be opening five State Disaster Recovery Centers. Beginning at 8:00 AM on Thursday, May 25, 2006, these DRCs will be opened to provide a “one-stop” location for flood victims to obtain information about various relief programs and available assistance.
“As we await the potential announcement of a Presidential Disaster Declaration from Washington DC, and its accompanying financial assistance programs, MEMA looks forward to assisting all of the individuals and businesses located in these most affected areas as they begin to make their way back,” stated MEMA Director Cristine McCombs. “These State Disaster Recovery Centers allow people the opportunity to receive answers to their many questions and obtain information regarding the myriad of programs that are available.”
The agencies and organizations, at the DRC, will include the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, Department of Transitional Assistance, Department of Elder Affairs, Division of Unemployment Assistance, Department of Veterans Services, Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, Department of Revenue, Division of Insurance, and Massachusetts Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster.
