Harbormaster Wanted

A seasonal position responsible for the safe and orderly use of Merrimac waters. At present a volunteer position that could expand into a paid position generated from excess tax revenue. The job entails continuing the registration process begun by the Conservation Commission to document boats, docks and moorings and the approval of new mooring placement and assignment. The position can be expanded to include duties performed in other Towns such as office management, environmental, search and rescue and enforcement. Independent and appropriate judgment is essential. The position reports to the Board of Selectmen and Conservation Commission. Perks include free Harbormaster boat registration and mooring in Merrimac. Owning a boat to patrol the river is not a requirement at this time but could become useful in the future.

Please contact the Conservation Agent, Jay Smith for more information.
