  • 2:00 PM Imperial Valley Nisei Women: Transcending Poston The Merrimac Public Library will host a reading and book signing with Joan Loveridge-Sanbomatsu, author of Imperial Valley Nisei Women: Transcending Poston. Free and open to the public. The book is a collection of oral histories of five, second-generation Japanese-American women, who were interned at Poston 1, Arizona, during World War II. Loveridge-Sanbonmatsu is a poet, author, and Professor Emerita of Communication Studies and Women’s Studies at Oswego State University in New York. Books may be purchased in advance or at the event.
