Mission Statement
The Board of Appeals is statutorily authorized to (1) hear and decide appeals by any person aggrieved by any order or decision of the Building Commissioner or other administrative official in violation of MGL c.40A, (2) hear and decide certain applications for Special Permits, (3) hear and decide applications for Findings of Fact concerning the extension of alteration of certain nonconforming uses or structures, (4) hear and decide certain petitions for use and dimensional variances, and (5) issue comprehensive permits for construction of low- or moderate-income housing, upon determination that such construction would be consistent with local needs.
